Molapong Aquaculture Project

Application for amendment of environmental authorisation for the establishment of the Molapong Aquaculture Project in Saldanha Bay within Saldanha Bay Local Municipality in the Western Cape Province.

You are hereby advised that, on 20 February 2023, the competent authority (Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment) issued its decision to grant the application to amend the earlier Environmental Authorisation (EA) of 08 July 2018.

On behalf of the Applicant (Molapong Aquaculture (Pty) Ltd) in the above matter, as a registered interested and affected party, you are hereby advised that, on 20 February 2023, the competent authority (Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment) issued its decision to grant the application to amend the earlier Environmental Authorisation (EA) of 08 July 2018.

The Amended EA of 20 February 2023 grants extension of the validity of the EA to 8 January 2026. A copy of the Amended EA which gives the reasons for the decision, is appended hereto.

In compliance with the requirements of the Amended EA of 20 February 2023, you are hereby advised of the following:

The outcome of the application, the reasons for the decision, the date of the decision and the date of issue of the decision are set out in the Amended EA of 20 February 2023.

As a registered interested and affected party you are entitled to lodge an appeal against the decision in terms of the provisions of Regulation 4 of the National Appeal Regulations 2014. In this regard, your attention is drawn to the Appeals section of the Amended EA of 22 February 2023 which, together with Regulation 4 of the National Appeal Regulations 2014, set out the requirements for lodging an appeal.
