For your information, please find attached the latest version of the South African Whale Disentanglement Network (SAWDN) contact information flyer. If a member of the public notices any marine mammal entangled in marine infrastructure or fishing gear they should notify the SAWDN immediately. Please do not attempt to free the animal yourself as this could put both you and the animal in severe danger.
Please note that this does NOT apply to the aquaculture farms in the ADZ. We have incorporated this information into our revised Emergency Response Plan already. So if you see an animal entangled in ADZ farms, please notify the ADZ ECO immediately and he will be responsible for notifying all the relevant agencies
